December Happenings

What a busy, fun month December has been! In an attempt at a "new years resolution", I am currently working on 3 new blog posts. Now to see if I actually write all 3- for those who know my track record, it doesn't look good. ;)
Let's see, December started with a trip to buy a new Christmas tree. We left our old one on OK last year and it just doesn't feel like Christmas time without a tree. After several stores, we managed to find an affordable tree that we could all agree on (Kevin and I share different taste in trees). It is the first tree I've owned that came with the lights already on it making decorating much easier-more coming later. :) We finished off tree shopping with lunch at Yamato. Our chef made a snow man out of the fried rice, complete with a carrot nose.

Zack was so proud and wanted to help carry the tree.

Next came tree decorating. The kids were so excited! Kevin helped Rylee hang the first ornament, then we all jumped in. After the tree was complete, Kevin set up the train while the kids played. When Zack came around the couch and saw the finished train moving around the tracks, he yelled "train!" (Insert sweetest, excited Zacky voice) and came RUNNING. :) Long after Zack got bored, Rylee laid on her tummy watching the train go round and round. So sweet!

Next followed some non-Christmas December fun. With lots of junior high boys and girls who play basketball, 2 high school girls who play, and 2 students in homecoming at different schools, we have been to several games already this season. The first game was rough until the kids got used to the idea of sitting on the bleachers-not climbing and blocking everyone around you can be difficult you know. ;) By the second game, they (and we) were pros with a backpack for each complete with favorite toys and special treats. Zacky really enjoyed cheering and clapping for our students- Go Jackets! Go Eagles!

Another fun December happening. Rylee LOVES tea parties but we've never had a real one so when she asked one morning that she didn't have school, I said "yes!" and the fun began. Rylee got out her tea set and set a table for 3. I made pumpkin muffins and Rylee insisted we drink real tea (iced) in her tea cups. Kevin had also given me a beautiful bouquet of flowers a few days before-a perfect centerpiece for our tea party. What a fun, special morning for all of us! Unexpected, beautiful memories! And a great reminder to slow down and enjoy the unplanned!
